From Passion to Purpose
Mirelocke Ltd started with a simple observation. Retired visitors wanted guided experiences that respected their pace and interests. We've built something special around Jerpoint Abbey — walks that combine history, natural beauty, and genuine hospitality.
Why We Started
We noticed retirees felt rushed on typical group tours. They wanted time to absorb the abbey's 12th-century architecture, sit peacefully in restored cloisters, and enjoy the riverside without pressure. That's when we realized we could design walks differently — built around comfort, curiosity, and genuine connection with these remarkable spaces.
What We've Learned
Over the past five years, we've guided hundreds of visitors through these grounds. We've discovered that people don't want rushed experiences. They want stories — the abbey's monastic past, the riverbank's natural ecology, the restored cloister gardens' careful recreation. They want comfortable pacing, proper seating, and guides who actually know the landscape.
Where We Are Today
Mirelocke Ltd now offers carefully planned walks three times weekly, with different routes for varying mobility levels. We've trained guides who combine historical knowledge with genuine warmth. We've created rest areas with benches overlooking the abbey's most beautiful angles. This isn't just tourism — it's a way to help people reconnect with heritage and nature.
